The Geyser
New Journal 20 – Leaving South America
We’re struggling with internet at the moment as we count down the hours until our flight from Antofagasta, Northern Chile, leaves. We’ll be US-bound tomorrow evening.
My friend George, from New Jersey, but who doesn’t sound like Tony Soprano (to my disappointment), recommends I indulge in a fresh mozzarella slice from Joe’s pizza when we get to NYC. I’m coming Joe. That slice of pizza better be as good as the ones they eat on Teenage Mutant Turtles. They go down in one mouthful.
As you can see, I’m tired and lacking my usual penmanship (keyboardmenship?). We travelled across the desert in a box on wheels. Food and rest is my main priority at the moment (and sharing a photo).

Today’s Photo – A Geyser in the Atacama Desert
This is the only image I could ‘salvage’ from a trip that started at 4:00am with the promise from our guide that we’d arrive at the geysers before sunrise. We arrived late, as is often that case in Chile, missing the sliver of a sunrise that there was. Surrounded my hundreds of tourists, this was literally the best that I could do and the only shot from the whole morning I was able to get.
Tours are never a good idea for photographers, especially when the guide gets annoyed because you’re more interested in taking pictures than listening to them.

it might just be me, but I can’t see the finished image in the blog stream or at the top of this post
Hi Andrew, I don’t think it’s just you. I think there’s a problem with a cache plugin I’m using. I’ve disabled it now so the photo should show up.
Hi Jimmy, I’ve been there and I understand your frustration. We drove ourselves and arrived on time in the freezing cold. But one is definitely not alone and it’s very difficult to get a clean picture ! What a pitty ! This lunar landscape is really marvelous.
